Would You Let Your Child Carry a $850 Handbag?

This question seems utterly random, but hang tight, my catalyst is quite specific.

You’ve surely heard of Suri Cruise, the spawn daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes who’s likeness is often splashed throughout tabloids. Suri, who “hates jeans and favors dresses,” was supposedly spotted carrying around a $850 Ferragamo purse in recent weeks.

katie holmes suri cruise carries $850 handbagWhen I was young, I toted a handbag. — a tiny The Little Mermaid baguette, probably purchased from the toy section at Kroger. It was shaped like a sea shell and was nothing short of magnificant. I placed fruit snacks and loose change and my mom’s old lipstick inside. (I realize that you’re probably envious of early appitude for cool right now. Please try to push through it and continue reading.)

The fruit snacks and lipstick melted all over the bag’s interior when I left the bag inside of a hot car. This happened repeadedly (with different melty, messy mediums). However it’s not surprising, because though I was strikingly stylish, I was still a CHILD.

Now, it’s plausible that US Weekly spotted Suri once in a bag that probably in actuality belongs to her mom. We all know that tabloids’ credibility is lacking. Or maybe it belongs to her. Who knows? Either way if I were Suri, there would have been a lipsticky, fruit-snacky mess adhered to that Italian leather within the first ten minutes of swinging it over my tiny shoulder.

What do you think? Would you endorse your daughter/son/niece/nephew’s carrying of such a costly accoutrement?

It’s obviously a hand me down. It’s an issue of hierarchy. Us lowly mortals get basic hand me downs or discount clothing and stuff. What do you think is the cheapest clothes and items the Cruises buy?
