As a follow up to our previous wedding post, here are some additional tips for summer weddings to help you start planning for next year’s big days! It’s never too early to start looking, and now is a great time to find amazing deals on summer wedding fashions!
Get the look right
You shouldn’t have to stress over a wedding, at least one that isn’t yours, so here are a few fashion tips to help you stick to the dress code. Turn heads and get appreciative comments while you dazzle the handsome men with your charming and chic look.
Summer is all about color, especially at a day wedding. It’s best you stay away from wearing white, unless it’s a request from the bride. Bright blues, pastel shades, melon, Kelly or teal green, and strawberry are brilliant dress color choices. Avoid wearing black to a day or morning wedding, but a little black dress to a wedding in the evening is a classic winner.
Get sexy, but make it tasteful. A one-shouldered drape dress in metal would look stunning with a pair of solid pumps or sandals if it’s a day time affair. Stick to conservative necklines; leave the low cuts and plunging necklines at home. Remember, you are a guest and not the main attraction for the day, all eyes should remain on the bride.
The time of the wedding also makes a big difference to appropriate choice of attire. A ceremony held during the day or afternoon calls for a more relaxed and casual approach. That doesn’t mean you should show up in cut-off shorts and a t-shirt, though.
Knee-length or long-flowing summer dresses always make great options. Mix and match fitted, frill, or pleat skirts with blossom print blouse would look great. Try a fancy fascinator or throw a straw boater on for an outdoor wedding.
Dress it up with a sleek satin dress or opt for the sheer shimmer of a pastel or nude chiffon for an evening reception. Make certain you’re not over or under dressed; your decision mainly rests on the type of venue and time of event. Weddings are a great time to show your friends that you care and think that their special day worth your while.
The Right Accessories
When it comes to jewelry and accessories, keep it reasonable. You don’t want to overpower your dress or cause the room to light up from all the sparkles you’re wearing. Let the bride do the shining! You might also want a nice clutch to take with you to carry tissues, touch-up makeup, and other necessities. For day weddings, check out our Tracey Convertible Clutch, or the Karen Shoulder Clutch. For evening weddings, try the Isabella Sequin Clutch or the ever-popular Serena Studded Clutch.
