The weather has us feeling slightly confused as of late. While we appear to be in some kind of summer-fall limbo, we’ve been thinking about how we can take the summer trends we have all grown to know and love, and transition them into next season with a trendy fall spin. Think it can’t be done? We picked some of our favorite summer trends and put together a few looks that are fall-appropriate. Check em out…

Peplum

fall 2012 peplum

From the sleeveless, pastel beauties of spring and summer to jewel tones paired with denim, the peplum silhouette is here to stay. Move away from lighter colors this season and opt for darker shades such as royal blue, emerald green, and deep purple, like the top above. Bold prints such as animal print are still a-go and are ideal for accessories like this funky belt. Complete the look with black suede booties and the cute Paige Quilted Shoulder Bag in mustard yellow. We just love these colors together!

Maxis

Maxi skirts for fall

Maxis are a great option for dresses as the fall chill begins to settle. While brights and pastel tank dresses were appropriate for summer, this fall you may want a little more coverage. Pair a golden maxi skirt with a simple white top and a tan belt. Cropped denim jackets are a going to be everywhere this fall and make a perfect addition to this look. Polish it off with a slouchy bag like the Sigma Pocket Satchel for a comfy and stylish outfit that is ideal for school, work, or the weekend.

Colored Skinnies

Colored skinnies burst onto the fashion scene this spring with neons and pastels in shades ranging from mint to hot pink. While we still love colored skinny pants for fall, we recommend opting for darker colors such as purple, beige, and red. We’re lovin’ these mustard yellow cuties with a simple tan tank, oversized asymmetrical sweater, and tan open-toe booties. Add a practical bag like the Cody Bowler Satchel and you are ready for a busy (and stylish) day!

Blazers

fall blazers

Even with the heat, blazers were one trend to stick around from spring to summer. Now blazers are transcending into fall! This summer, this stylish outerwear featured lighter colors and materials and typically had quarter-sleeves for cool comfort. This fall, go for a heavier material in darker shades. Style a red blazer with a classic black tee, dark-washed skinnies, and cognac flats. Complete the look with a leopard print scarf and an oversized black bag. We’re loving the belted accents of the Broad Ripple Buckle Tote!
