Celeb Style: Jenny Humphrey aka Taylor Momsen of Gossip Girl

Look at little J giving off a blank stare as if she’s in deep thought…or deep judgment of her subjects.  Well, at least the girl’s got style–that’s for dang sure.  Naturally what really caught my eye  was the adorable clutch Jen’s…er…clutching.  I might just snatch it from her since she’s not looking.

Kidding.

Keeping with the law, there is a great little clutch with which I might theoretically snatch her style.  Meet the Janet Frame Clutch–a polished silver trimmed beauty made from textured  croc-embossed leatherette.  That’s not all though.  The Janet Frame Clutch opens to reveal magnetic snap closure, along with a surprisingly organized inner system of pouches, and a  wristlet strap for easy carrying.  All this for only $24.95. You know what to do.

xoxo,

Handbag Heaven

Celeb Style: Victoria Beckham’s Handbag

When I hear the name “Victoria Beckham”, I instantly think of a strong, beautiful woman with a sophisticated edge.  The recipe for this mental image:

1 Part Poise
1 Part Exquisite Styling

(Hint: The latter ingredient is key!)

For instance, take a look at the stylish handbag Victoria is carrying.  Very “posh”, is it not?  Handbag Heaven has a much more economically sound way of pulling off this very look.

Available in both black and brown, The Jane Shoulder Bag is tastefully embossed with a gorgeous croc texture and matte finish.  The Jane Checkbook Wallet and the Jane Smaller Wallet also offer the same sophisticated edge (in a much smaller package of course)!

How to Wear a Clutch

Milana from the ever-so-useful Fashion Style Advice is back, this time to give us her expert insight on that most feminine of handbags: the clutch. Read on for reasons why you should make this fashion element a staple in your wardrobe.

Handbags are to me what shoes are to Carrie Bradshaw; something you just can’t get enough of! When it comes to wardrobe, handbags are probably a girl’s best friend. They look good, can dress us up and can dress us down, and most importantly, they are the carrier alishaof all of our essentials when we leave the house. They come in many different shapes, sizes, textures, and colors and that’s exactly what makes them fun – they are a feminine item that is both practical and pretty at the same time.

One of my favorite types of bags is a clutch. Why? They are very feminine and very edgy at the same time. They can be worn in many different ways; under your arm, in your hand, around your wrist, or just held with your fingers. You can look very feminine by holding it up in the palm of your hand with your arm stretched out, or very edgy and cool just holding the edge of the clutch in your fingers or under your arm.

The Alisha Distressed Clutch is perfect for both night and day. What I like about this clutch is its functionality – it’s not too small and not too big, either. There’s room for all your must-have beauty items like mascara, lip gloss, and blush, and it also has small pockets for your phone and other things you want to be able to find quickly.

The color of this clutch is very easy to mix with other colors, especially neutral colors like grey, black and white. It can make any neutral outfit look a lot more exciting analishaopend fun and a lot more feminine too.

What’s great about this clutch is that is looks great and is practical at the same, and this is not the case with many clutches. They’re all pretty and can make any outfit just a little more feminine, but usually they’re not practical and you can’t have a lot of things in them.

I would wear this clutch to a lunch, a movie or a night out. It’s not practical for going shopping because you have to hold it in your hand, but it’s perfect for a date! You don’t want to look too bulky going out – you want to look relaxed – and this clutch is great for that!

Celeb Style: Get the Hills’ Lauren Conrad’s Look

Check out Lauren’s classic look — adorable scarf, trendy pea-coat and signature bag.  Let’s face it; the girl looks good no matter what she’s wearing.  The glue that really holds this look together, though, is the gorgeous Chanel swinging from her arm.  Can’t afford it? Worry not; I’ve got the perfect improvisation.

The Classic Quilted Shoulder Bag pulls off the look for only a mere fraction of the price.  At $54.95, the soft quilted leatherette is accented with gold hardware and a leatherette wrapped gold chain shoulder strap. Not enough? The Classic Quilted Shoulder Bag can also be turned into a super-sized clutch by putting the chain strap inside the bag. Two bags for the price of one!

Weekly Blogosphere Roundup

Tis the first roundup of the new year and I’m pumped. You too? Nothing quite like that clean-slate feeling of promise and excitement. Also nothing quite like an all-night-long snowfall, and tiny, excruciating moments of “driving” a fishtailing car while turning in an intersection on your commute to work. Ah, January.

Hi Bob. Everyone’s experienced new haircut remorse, so Jennine’s video with her reaction to a shorter-than-expected new do is so endearing and relatable.

Fort Livingroom. Gemma’s five New Year’s resolutions are spot on. I particularly love the ‘Be Less Grownup’ point. I think it’s important to remember not to take yourself too seriously. Lessens the stress. Also, love this principle in terms of fashion choices.

Cold Toe. This next post is about as good as they get. Miss Amanda Lee generously shares some essential sewing skills via several video guides. Learn how to sew on a button, fix holes in socks and tights, and more. Or alternatively send this to a chauvinistic, anti-male-domesticity guy you know with ‘MAN UP’ in the subject title.

Twotentastic. Who doesn’t love a good old top ten list? Styletastic boils down ten fun things to look forward to in the upcoming year. Is it weird that those shoes make me physically salivate?

Also, check our just launched handbag glossary. A trillion (imaginary) dollars to the first person who can tell me what a minaudiere is.

Weekly Blogosphere Roundup

Raise the roof ladays! It’s Friday! Anther great week in the e-commerce world for us. And in the tangible, far less easily navigable, real world, we got our first snow! Snow is confounding in a way – you look out the window at the first white dusting of the year and inevitably get excited with school-just-might-be-canceled butterflies – whether you’re a student or not, of course.

This feeling stays until you take your first step onto a treacherously ice ridden sidewalk, during which you simultaneously curse, take note of all individuals in close enough proximity to see your impending plunge and contemplate moving to a warmer locale.

Oh well, we can all just cross our fingers for global warming, right? On to the blogoshpere…

The Bones About It. Perhaps the most common and widely distributed pics across the fashion internets this week were those of the Rodarte collection for Target, coming to a red dot near you December 20 to January 31. Coquette gives the LD.

A Hole In My Pocket. Birdie at Bonne Vie delves thoughtfully into the topic of fast fashion’s relationship to today’s repair industries. This is truly interesting people, so do take a look.

Fly With Me. Confession: I think Victoria’s Secret models are magical fairies. They’re obviously not real humans, plus they have wings, so magical fairies is the obvious alternative, right? The lovely lady at Fashion X K8 tell us about her love of Vicky S too.

DIY. Amber at Painfully Hip tell us how to grab some serious runway style with not much more than thrifty intuition.

You Look Cold. Get some much-needed clarification on leggings versus tights from Serena at Style on a String. If you talk to LiLo today, can you please send her this link? Thanks.

Have a lovely weekend!
